Having been here three times, Abe Fisher was a phenomenal experience each time, taking Jewish Ashkenazi food to unprecedented heights. I’m so sad they are closing. The menu during my last visit was the “Greatest Hits” menu. The service was incredible, Justin was the best waiter we ever had in Center City. We started off with the Roll Right In cocktail which was magical with the za’atar finish. Then the challah rolls came in with the spreads, each delicious. Then came the roasted sweet potatoes and the heirloom tomato caesar salad, both were very tasty. Then came the latke fries which are the best I’ve tried. Then came the veal schnitzel tacos which are some of the best tacos my gf and I have had in our lives. Finally, the short ribs arrived. What can I say? It’s perfect pastrami on another level. Unforgettable. Last came the desserts, of which my favorite was the bacon and egg cream. All in all, this spot will go down as one of the legendary places I’ve been to. The chefs behind the kitchen are truly some of the very best chefs in all of Philadelphia. Really sad they are closing. Apparently it’s due to marketing reasons as Abe Fisher’s sister restaurants Zahav and Laser Wolf are typically booked a month in advance where as Abe Fisher isn’t. The idea is to reopen Abe Fisher in a few years with the right timing so that it can be as busy as the sister restaurants. It’s all about timing really, as Abe Fisher opened too early and didn’t catch the heat from its subsequent sister restaurants. If I’m correct, then I can’t wait until the new Abe Fisher returns a few years later bringing back the Jewish Ashkenazi cuisine to the scene.

We came here for my boyfriend’s birthday and were really blown away! Our server Jasper had such a great attention to detail and added so many personal touches to our meal that we genuinely feel there is no better place to spend a birthday. The food was SO good. We are big drinkers and barely drank two drinks each the food was so good we just wanted to focus on that 😂 The short ribs as everyone says are the best but the challah rolls are special too. This is a must go restaurant.

This is my kind of place - they serve food that is relatable and familiar but executed with finesse and a touch of refinement. Everything we had here was remarkably good - the smoked short ribs, red snapper crudo, fried zucchini flower, even the starter challah bread and fixings. Service was impeccable as well. They even got us an extra freebie appetizer, the borscht, and it was delightful. As my wife and I finished our meals and walked out of Abe Fisher, we immediately started getting giddy about what we're going to get next time we come back - if that isn't a sign of a great restaurant, I don't know what is.

Went out here while traveling for work. Morgan was incredible. I usually just let the server take the reins and order for me because I eat everything and every single thing he brought out was delicious. After I reached my daily max for my work budget he also brought an extra glass of wine to have with my meal. Compliments to both the chef and the service. The latke fries are both the best fries and the best hash browns I’ve ever had (not to mention amazing cocktails). Seriously good.

So special Jewish dishes and wonderful menu dining experience!!! The housemade roll and all the bread in the dishes are so tasty that I had too much carb for sure. Strongly recommend the chicken liver mousse and Montreal smoked short ribs, must order!!! The overall tasting experience is just amazing!

I LOVED this place. Upscale Jewish restaurant with really beautiful decor. We got the tasting menu and there was so much food on our table. The bread was too damn good, and the ribs! Lawd help me, the ribs. The service was also great. They ran out of an item, and so they gave us an extra appetizer free. The waitress clearly knew her wine. She was professional, personable, but also made sure not to come to our table too often unless we needed something. I'm sad they will be rebranding soon. From what the waitress said, the owners want to leave fine dining a bit and move into more family style meals. However, my sister and I will likely come back to see it after the rebrand.

*HIGHLY RECOMMEND* *4.5/5 STARS* One of the few Jewish restaurants in Philly, Abe Fisher presents a great fine dining experience for any special occasion, date night, or if you ever want to just treat yourself. The restaurant only offers a prefix three course meal option (appetizer, main course, and dessert) and the menu changes frequently except the Montreal Smoked Short Ribs, their signature dish which is always available. When coming with a large party, you can definitely get all appetizers and entrees to share, definitely ask the waiter how many of each you should get to share. The meal always starts with their house rolls which are super buttery, you can see it glisten. The spreads and pickles that you add to it makes it taste even better than it already does. Recommendations: Lakte fries - basically hash browns in a large French fries shaped form. Super fried crispy on the outside. And the strawberry jam it come with surprisingly complements it really well Beet cured Salmon crudo - smoked salmon flavor comes through very strong but I love it. Disappointed at the amount given but still shareable with another person Duck breast - literally one of the best duck breast I've ever had. Cooked perfectly medium and super tender and juicy too. Surprised it came with egg rolls, wish there were more duck instead lol Montreal Smoked Short Ribs - must get as well! This is their signature dish and it's soooo good. Cooked perfectly medium rare and you even get the cartilage. I love that you can make a sandwich out of it, helps cut down on the fat. The pieces were also huge. No wonder it's always on their menu *VERDICT* Would definitely come here again on special occasion
